IPR Enforcement Support for SMEs

CSES has been working with the Danish Patent and Trademark Office and other Intellectual Property Offices across Europe to identify the elements that should be provided in public business support systems (and particularly by IPOs themselves), to help SMEs enforce their intellectual property rights. This work by CSES has contributed to developments under the IPeuropAware project, where some 20 European National Patent Offices have been comparing and co-ordinating their services for SMEs. One result has been a publication aimed at IPOs and other business support agencies that offer services relating to the management and enforcement of IPR. 'Creating Effective IPR Enforcement Support for SMEs' builds on the earlier framework recommended by an IPR Enforcement Expert Group, convened by the European Commission and co-ordinated by CSES. It also benefitted from detailed discussions with IPeuropAware members as the basis for proposing a challenging but feasible reform of current service provision.
